How Snarøya came to be
Snarøya was an island until the early 1800s, when the strait was filled in and it was joined to the mainland.1 According to the Store Norske Leksikon, the land for Fornebu was bought in 1934, the airport was completed in 1939, and it closed in 1998 when Gardermoen opened.2
According to Lokalhistoriewiki, summer-house plots were laid out on Strømstangen and Halden from 1916, and block housing on Strømstangen and Rolfstangen began in 1947.3 The Caprino family bought Snarøya farm in 1923, Caprino Filmsenter was established there in 1948, and Snarøya church was consecrated in 1968.4
