How Tveita came to be
According to Lokalhistoriewiki, Tveita is named after the farm Tveten.1 Oslo municipality bought the land in 1950, and in 1963–1969 it was built out with slab blocks, apartment blocks and terraced houses planned by the architect Frode Rinnan. The buildings were placed so that as many residents as possible got a good view.2
The three thirteen-story slab blocks on Nåkkves vei, known as the “Tveita-blokkene,” are a visible landmark.3 Tveita school opened in 1968, and Tveita center and Tveita station on the Furuset line opened in 1970.4
