About
A tool for choosing where to live
Stedsvalg helps you find areas across Greater Oslo that fit your destinations, your housing needs and your priorities.
Who is behind it
My name is Andrew Feinberg, and I build Stedsvalg alone in my spare time.
I started Stedsvalg because I knew so little about Oslo when I first moved here, and it was hard for me to decide where to live. There is no editorial team and no paid placements. No person or group can buy a higher spot on the list.
The site is a static website built on open data and a deterministic model that undergoes continuous testing. The method page explains how it all fits together.

What it is
Free, with no account and no ads. You enter destinations, housing needs and what matters to you, and get a ranking of places you can compare and save.
What it is not
It is not a property valuation, and it does not show homes for sale. The numbers describe areas and not individual homes. Use them to narrow your search.
Privacy
Addresses are sent to Entur and a few public map services to look them up, and otherwise stay in your browser. Statistics are anonymous and use no cookies.
Still developing
The models are versioned, and the technical note describes the method currently in use.
