Addresses and Travel

When you search for an address or request travel times, the search, chosen destination and necessary coordinates are sent directly from your browser to Entur. Entur also receives standard technical information such as your IP address. The address is kept temporarily in this browser tab so it survives refreshes and language switches. If you choose to remember destinations, they are also kept on this device until you untick that option. Choosing LGBTQ+ spaces adds a destination in central Oslo. It is kept in this browser tab, remembered on this device if you choose to remember destinations, and included in the results link. Entur receives its location to calculate trips. The results link in the address bar includes your destinations (typed addresses, coordinates and nicknames), so anyone you send it to can see them. The share button on the results page still makes a results-only link without them. When you add a home you are considering, its coordinates are also sent directly from your browser to NVE (kart.nve.no) to fetch flood and quick-clay maps. NVE also receives standard technical information such as your IP address. For the same home the coordinates also go to Miljødirektoratet and the EEA (noise maps) to read the noise at the address; Entur receives them for walking routes to the nearest shop, park, school and similar.

Map and External Resources

Map tiles are fetched from Esri. Fonts and the map library (Leaflet) are served from Stedsvalg itself, so no other provider sees a visit for them. Esri may receive your IP address and standard request information when map tiles load. The Finn.no links on results open Finn in a new tab only when you click them. The link holds just the coordinates of the grid square shown on the map, no referrer is sent, and once Finn’s page opens, Finn sees your IP address and request details under its own terms.

Analytics and Feedback

Stedsvalg uses Cloudflare Web Analytics for page views and its own simple counter for how the app is used, such as which steps get completed. Neither uses cookies, and nothing is tied to you as a person: no user ID, no stored IP address and no tracking across sites or visits. The counts contain only an event name, language, device type, page and any campaign tags in the link you opened. Addresses, budget and free text are never sent. Because this sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, you aren’t asked for consent.

Free text and an optional category in the feedback section are sent to Stedsvalg only when you press Send, along with the shortlist and a few technical details such as the number of calculations and whether you started from a shared result. Feedback on a home comparison sends only the rating, an optional category and how many homes were compared. The general feedback form linked from the footer sends only the message you write, anonymously, and only when you press Send. Addresses, coordinates and the budget amount are never included. The copy button instead creates a text you can choose to send on yourself.

Storage

Housing needs, priorities, search area, addresses, your Compare Homes list, travel times and Saved Places are remembered on this device so they’re there next time. Anything unused for 90 days (addresses) or 180 days (everything else) is deleted automatically. You can turn this off, and see and forget everything that’s stored, in the section below.
